If you owned a 20v Avant that is known to no longer exist (salvage/parted), you’re welcome to submit your vehicle but choose the correct option on the form. If you have sold your vehicle, please try and point the new owner to the registry and have them submit the car themselves.

Notes: Was Avant 27 on the Original Registry, my first 20v Avant which I purchased in VT in 2019 after an extended period of dormancy, vehicle was parted out in June 2020 due to rot and several mechanical failures. Almost all parts of this vehicle live on in other Audis, including any 10-and-20v Avants I’ve owned, and the 3B engine was reportedly installed in a UrQ build. At this point, the shell is likely to have been scrapped.

Needs a little cosmetic TLC due to clear coat failure on the hood, but the body is straight and rust-free, and at 36psi on E85, it’s an absolute blast to drive!

Notes: This car has been an absolute workhorse! It’s seen mountains, deserts, track days, autocross, hauled V8s in the back, etc. Mildly built with a Volvo K24. The original engine spun a rod bearing at 285k miles, and has now been replaced with the 3B that came out of Drew Carlson’s racecar. Fun fact: The fenders on this car don’t have side-markers. They seem original to car, but may in fact be 100 Sport fenders from Europe.

Notes: This car has been my baby for most of my adult life. It has gone through several evolutions from a simple chip tune, to an Iroz Billet K26 to standalone and finally a fully built motor with GTX2867 and custom bits from Sam Stone and Kirk Koontz. It’s super rowdy with Porsche brakes and plenty of power but still on stock suspension, points to the sky under throttle and gets thumbs up every time I drive it.

Notes: I restored it in 2005 when I was 17, blew up 2007. Traded to RockinV8Keith(red 20v in back), Bought back after he pulled the motor. Traded to a Codey in CLE for a 4kq. He sold it to s DR. in VT. DR in VT never took possession as he had Codey 2.6 stroker it. Avant disappeared. Last I saw was a photo in Maryland being parted out. CAC taillights, Black roof rails, and in cluster autometer gauges were its identifying marks. Wish I could track it down.

Therefore, I have taken the liberty to document these vehicles myself using saved photos and information I’ve collected over time. If your vehicle is featured in this section please feel free to step up and claim it so we can more accurately track where these cars are now!

This registry, combined with examples that have not been duplicated from the original (viewable here), may give us around 130-140 cars in total. Excitingly, that means that most of the cars in my estimation were documented at least once.

Notes: VINs are unknown. These 20v Avants were last known to be part of a larger Audi collection somewhere in New Paltz, NY. The collection made internet rounds in January 2025 and was being offered as an all-or-nothing package deal by an individual who may have been a former employee of the now defunct Shokan Audi. It is unknown if these cars, along with nearly 20+ other cars in this private collection, did end up selling, but it is highly likely they still exist in some form; though a restoration on any of these four would not be for the faint of heart.

Unclaimed 5 (Lavonia, GA Collection)

Notes: VIN is unknown. This Avant is a lone 20v example in a literal forest of old Audis located in Lavonia, GA. The private collection of nearly 50+ cars, with plenty being other 20v examples (all sedans, however), are slowly being parted out or sold by the owner. This car, however, is “planned” for restoration. According to the owner this has been off the road since at least the early 2010s. Given its current state, this is another Avant that may unfortunately be lost to its circumstances.

Notes: Vin is unknown. This vehicle was easily identifiable by smoked taillights. It was featured on blogs and forums when listed for sale in 2016 with about 220K miles. Sometime pre-2020 this example was rear-ended and sold at auction on CoPart, eRepairables, or IAAI. If memory serves correctly, it was auctioned off either in Washington or Montana. It is unknown if the car was rebuilt or scrapped as it has not to my knowledge resurfaced since.
